To new volunteers,
If you have just arrived I expect you will already be part of the family and have also been told off by Bishal for saying thank you. If you have any niggling worries then relax – you have arrived in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. In my three and a half months here I have fallen in love with the country. It is honestly the only place I have been that could entice me from my own country as a new place to live. Watching the sun turn the purple Himalayan nights into day at Shivapuri will stay with me forever. The people here are some of the most kind and considerate people I could hope to meet. I have never felt unwelcome or alienated. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. Volunteering gives you a deeper insight into Nepalese culture. Use the experience to open your mind and take stock of your life. Above all, meet Amaa. She is one of the best cooks and kindest people in the world. You don’t need to speak the same language to understand her, her smile tells you everything you need to know. All my memories of Nepal are intertwined with the image of her smile. All my love to my Nepalese family, I will never forget you and you will see me again.
